Dorothy Jackson Kite wanted to do something to show her local firefighters how much they meant to the community. While she was at it, she decided to create something that could connect communities nationwide with their first responders. So began her passion project - contacting firehouses around the country to find out what their favorite recipes were. My favorite parts of this book are the stories and histories of firefighting in the United States and how firefighters around the country turn mealtime into a system to create a community within the firehouse. The recipes are presented with two amounts for the ingredient list - one that can serve the firehouse and one that can be cooked for a family.
