by Patience Gray, who was a British artist and food writer created the kind of books that inspire us to cook anything she describes. More than a cookbook, this is also a journal of her travels around the Mediterranean with the sculptor, Norman Mommens as he sought sources of marble for his work. Their travels included Provence, Carrara, Catalonia, Naxos, and Apulia. The recipes are often simple, country recipes that make use of seasonal and local produce, but the recipes are poems - lyrical and beautiful, Try the recipe for "Young Vegetables: Cooking a la Greque" on p. 169.
