by Florence Irwin
This book is a treasure of a find! Florence Irwin was born in 1883 in Belfast, Ireland. After training in home studies at Methodist College, she embarked on a journey around Ireland to bring modern home management techniques to the farms and villages in County Down. She traveled from village to village with her portable kitchen and stayed about 6 weeks in each village between the years of 1905 and 1913. Besides her recipes and household tips, this book is full of stories of her adventures, of the people she met and the places she would always remember.
She also includes some recipes and techniques from old cookery books.
